Whilst you want your child’s room to be as practical and fun as any other room, you also have to take safety into consideration. As well as trying to remove or cover any sharp edges in the room, it is best to arrange furniture to maximise floor space, giving your child enough room to play.
Factors to consider when designing a children’s bedroom
If you have more than one child sleeping in the same room, try and keep a distance of at least three feet between their beds. If possible, aim to place the beds against opposite walls so that they each have their own space. Placing a bed against a wall can also offer a little security against falls.
Playing space is very important in a child’s room which must be provided for if possible. Floor space is great for young children who will use the floor for games and activities.
A successful kids’ room needs a lot of storage. A storage trunk placed at the end of the bed is a useful solution for storing toys and games easily and accessibly. Finally, where possible, try to arrange items of furniture to cover electrical points for a little extra peace of mind.
