Fitted wardrobes used as feature walls

September 7, 2010

There are countless different techniques that would-be interior designers use in order to make their bedrooms more visually appealing. Clearly these are all to do with each person’s individual tastes, but it is not surprising that there are particular trends that people tend to follow.

One of the most popular trends that is currently being employed by people in the UK is that of a feature wall. Feature walls are a really good way of making a big impact with your interior design. Lots of people identify a wall in their room to paint a different colour to the rest of the room. Otherwise they paper that wall with a more impressive and eye-catching design than the other walls.

However, choosing a wall that you can make a feature out of isn’t always easy. You can’t choose a wall with a window in it and the other walls are likely to be used for items of furniture. A clever way of getting around this problem is by installing fitted wardrobes.

Fitted wardrobes can be used to fill an entire wall and provide the feature themselves. Fitted wardrobes are available in really attractive styles that are perfect for making a big impression.

Choosing between full carcass and front frame wardrobes

Posted in Bedroom Furniture — Written by Karen

Fitted wardrobes are really handy elements that you can introduce to rooms for a number of different reasons. The chief reasons people tend to use fitted wardrobes are in order to save space and thereby create a more comfortable and therefore more attractive bedroom. However, if you have decided to use fitted wardrobes in your own bedroom then you will have to make a choice between two different types. These are known as full carcass wardrobes and front frame wardrobes.

Full carcass wardrobes

A full carcass wardrobe is a fitted wardrobe that has all the usual components of a wardrobe built into it. This means that even though it is being built into a wall or a bay in your room, it has a base, a ceiling, sides and a back, as well as a front and a set of doors.

Front frame wardrobes

An alternative to a full carcass wardrobe is a full frame wardrobe. Unlike full carcass varieties, these fitted wardrobes do not make use of the full frame. Rather than having a back, sides and a base, front frame wardrobes just have a front and a set of doors. The walls, floor and ceiling are left to make up the rest of the frame.
