Take advantage of the huge amounts of storage space offered by fitted bedroom furniture

One of the major considerations that we always have to think about whenever we renovate a room is how we will handle storage. This is the same for absolutely any room in the house. Whether we are renovating the kitchen, the bathroom, the living room or the bedroom, we need to find appropriate storage solutions that will accommodate the exact kids of items we expect to store therein.

In the bedroom, for instance, we have to think about how we are going to store all of our different types of clothing, as well as bedding, cosmetics, multimedia items, personal keepsakes and mementos and all sorts of other items.

Unfortunately, all of this stuff requires a great deal of storage space and ordinary items of bedroom furniture are not always most equipped to handle them. Often, finding pieces of bedroom furniture that can accommodate all of your things means taking up huge amounts of floor space.

However, this needn’t be the case. Fitted bedroom furniture is wonderful at creating huge amounts of storage space on its interior, but remaining reasonably compact on the exterior. This is because fitted wardrobes and so on use the full quota of the space into which they are installed.

Attractive fitted bedroom furniture can make all the difference

Posted in Fitted Bedrooms — Written by Jermaine

Interior design is something that most of us take a huge amount of pride in. The way we decorate our homes often says a lot about who we are and it always has a massive effect on our visitors and guests.

The bedroom is one of the rooms where it is possible to really go all out on interior design. After all, the bedroom is a room wherein you should enjoy spending your time. To really make the most of the time you spend in the bedroom, you need to make it as comfortable and attractive as possible.

Certain types of bedroom furniture are not always suitable when you are looking to create a really pleasant and attractive space. Incoherent bits and bobs scattered around the room can make your room look very crowded and incongruous. However, you can resist using disparate and ill-fitting pieces of bedroom furniture by installing fitted bedroom furniture.

Fitted wardrobes, cupboards, drawers and shelving make ultimate use of the space available for furniture in your room. They also belong to the exact same aesthetic style, so you can be sure that they really tie the room together.

Use fitted bedroom furniture for a really striking bedroom.

With fitted furniture the storage options are endless

If you have just had your loft converted, you might be wondering how you are going to fit a standard size wardrobe or chest of drawers in the room. Most loft conversions have slanting rooflines so have a reduced head height in some sections of the room. It can therefore be difficult to find furniture pieces that fit in.

An excellent option here is to have fitted furniture. You can choose from a vast array of designs and door types if you choose fitted furniture, so it can match the décor and other furniture items you have in the room. And, because the furniture is made to fit exactly into the space you have, no space is lost and hence you will have more overall space for other things in the room.

Fitted furniture can be made to fit into awkward angles around the chimney breast for example and doesn’t just have to be wardrobes. If you want, the fitted furniture can just be a set of shelves with no hanging space at all. And, that is perhaps the best thing about fitted furniture. It is designed to fit perfectly into the space you have, so the storage options are endless.

Get quality and extra space with fitted furniture

If you have visited your local department store recently, you will have noticed how expensive quality pieces of furniture are. And, the problem with choosing pieces of standard furniture is that you have to position them correctly in the room to use the space effectively.

It is quite common to find homes that have standard wardrobes to be underutilising the space to the left and the right of the wardrobe and of course the space above the wardrobe also. This ‘lost’ space can add up to quite a few cubic feet which are being wasted in your home. This can work out to be really non-cost effective and you may have to have extra pieces of furniture to store all your things.

One way to use this ‘lost’ space is to have fitted furniture installed. And, with fitted furniture being much cheaper then you may think you can have the quality you are looking for at a similar price to a standard furniture item.

If you choose fitted furniture you can decide upon the finish you want, the storage layout and any accessories you might want to complement the design.

Things to consider when choosing fitted furniture

Choosing fitted furniture might not be as simple as purchasing a regular wardrobe, but the finish and the usability of the furniture is worth the effort needed when making your choice.

One of the first things that will happen when you decide on fitted furniture, is a designer will visit your home and take measurements of the space you have.

When the designer has all the dimensions, they will ask you what you need the space to do. Is it for storing clothes? Do you need hanging space? Do you want shelves? Are you using the space to store heavy items? Asking questions like this will enable them to think about the various designs that might work for you, so they can do the computer modelling of the design.

The designer may bring furniture samples with them or you can visit the showroom to see the many different types of design and finish on offer. You can also choose the furniture handles and accessories such as fitted lighting to complement the design.

When the design is finished, you will be able to get a computer visualisation of how the design will look and hence will be able to make design changes as necessary before the furniture is manufactured and fitted.

The benefits of a fitted bedroom

Posted in Fitted Bedrooms — Written by Jermaine

Having a fitted bedroom can offer many benefits to the homeowner. And, the cost of fitted furniture is usually no different from the quality free standing furniture that you can buy from your local retailer. Here we will discuss some of the benefits of fitted furniture.

Coordination of furniture

Having furniture that all looks the same can enhance the look and style of your home. If you have pieces that are all different, it can be hard to create a cohesive look in the room and things start to look out of place.

Maximisation of space using all awkward spaces

Bedrooms often have alcoves and awkward corners so buying standard furniture to fit these spaces can be difficult. If you choose fitted furniture you can get the most from the available space.

Maximum storage potential

Many items of standard furniture can often be bulky and take up lots of space but not provide a huge amount of storage. With fitted furniture, you can maximise the use of every available inch and have it specifically tailored to meet your needs.

Personalisation of storage options

Do you need more hanging space than drawers? With many standard furniture items you get a predetermined proportion of hanging space to drawer space. This may not suit your individual storage requirements. If you choose fitted units you can determine exactly how you want to use the space you have.

Bedroom redesign and sliding wardrobes

May 20, 2010

One of the best things about choosing a bespoke bedroom design is the vast array of different designs and colours the furniture is available in. From warm wooden finishes that reflect the beauty of real wood, to soft painted finishes that can add an element of calm to a bedroom environment, there is a huge amount of choice on offer.

One of the latest developments in fitted bedroom design is the sliding wardrobe. Sliding wardrobes can be fitted really easily into any bedroom design and because the doors slide from side to side they can save space and look great at the same time.

Most fitted furniture manufacturers will be able to fit sliding wardrobes into your design. And, they won’t limit the size of the doors to standard wardrobe door size. They can create the effect of the wardrobe actually looking like a fitted part of the room and when the doors are slid from side to side, you can get access to everything in the wardrobe easily.

When you have a design consultation, discuss the various options with your designer before finalising your choice. Some of the better bedroom design services will take all the dimensions of the room and then add your wardrobes to display a virtual image on the computer screen of how the finished room will look.

Storage in a loft conversion

Posted in Fitted Bedrooms — Written by Sam

Loft conversions are a fantastic way to provide an extra room within your home, however due to the rooflines in many buildings, finding furniture which fits can be a challenge. Standard wardrobes are often too tall or wide to fit within the reduced headspace often encountered within loft conversions. In addition, sideboards or chests of drawers may not fit against the sloping walls. This problem can mean that whilst the loft conversion provides an extra room, you may still be short of storage.

What are the options to solve this problem?

Many people find that fitted furniture provides a useful alternative to standard furniture, and can be tailor made to meet their requirements. Fitted bedroom units can be built to fit with the roofline, taking into account any unusual angles in the room.

Fitted units can be built into the sloping edges of the room, where the floor space is unusable due to lack of headroom. In these spaces there is often insufficient space for any other form of furniture. Units could also be fitted into tight alcoves next to the chimney stack which will be prominent in many loft conversions. By choosing fitted units, you may be able to bring some much needed storage options into your new room.

Is storage a problem in your home?

Have you found that you are increasingly running out of storage space in your bedroom? We often come across this problem, but there are a number of solutions which can help you to reorganise all your possessions. You could consider the following:

• Under bed storage boxes
• Vacuum sealed storage bags
• Fitted wardrobes

Under bed storage can make the most of this generally unused space and provide lots of extra storage options. Boxes are designed to fit neatly under most conventional beds, some with wheels for easy access.

Vacuum sealed storage bags can dramatically reduce the volume of the items you need to store. Your bulky spare bedding, or jumpers and coats could be reduced significantly in size, meaning that you can store more items within your bedroom furniture.

Fitted wardrobes can also provide much more storage, using space that might otherwise be unusable – awkward corners, or space above existing wardrobes up to the ceiling. Another benefit of fitted wardrobes is that the storage they provide is generally out of sight, allowing you to put everything away and avoiding the unsightly piles of luggage and boxes that tend to developing on top wardrobes.
