Box rooms make perfect fitted bedrooms

September 2, 2010
Posted in Fitted Bedrooms — Written by Sam

A vast proportion of homes in the United Kingdom were designed with families in mind. As a result, it is really common to see homes that have one or two larger bedrooms and one box room. The box room is generally intended as a children’s bedroom with the larger rooms reserved for adults.

The trouble with box rooms is obviously their size. It is great to have an extra bedroom in the house and kids fit into them pretty well, but as they start to grow, they inevitably need a bit more in the way of personal space.

Furnishing a box room for a child who is moving towards their teens is not always an easy task. They are likely to need a larger bed and they will almost certainly need more clothes, so space in their bedroom becomes really tight unless you take a new approach.

Box rooms are ideal as fitted bedrooms. Fitting furniture directly into a box room increases the potential of certain areas of the room for storage. For example, areas up in the top corners of the room become available for use. Fitted wardrobes reduce the necessity for more pieces of furniture taking up valuable floor space.
